About the Chesapeake Alliance
The Chesapeake Alliance is a non-partisan, non-profit organization that brings together business leaders, community stakeholders, and engaged citizens to foster informed dialogue on the issues and initiatives shaping Chesapeake’s future.
Originally established in 1996 and revitalized in 2022, the Alliance serves as a trusted resource by encouraging collaboration, promoting responsible economic development, and providing educational opportunities that help members and the broader community better understand the opportunities and challenges facing our city.

What We Do
The Chesapeake Alliance fulfills its mission through a variety of initiatives designed to inform, connect, and engage our members and the broader community, including:
- Educational forums featuring local, regional and nationally recognized experts
- General membership meetings with keynote presentations
- Community discussions on issues impacting Chesapeake’s future
- Task groups that research emerging opportunities and develop thoughtful recommendations
- Networking and social events that strengthen relationships across Chesapeake’s business community
- Educational resources that encourage informed decision-making and civic engagement
The Alliance also collaborates with peer organizations throughout South Hampton Roads, including the Hampton Roads Alliance, Virginia Beach Vision, Portsmouth Partnership, and Greater Norfolk Corporation. By exchanging ideas, sharing best practices, and fostering regional dialogue, these organizations work together to support the long-term prosperity of the communities they serve.

The Chesapeake Alliance regularly hosts educational programs featuring respected leaders and subject matter experts who provide valuable insights into the issues shaping Chesapeake’s future. Recent topics have included housing, economic development, energy, infrastructure, technology, workforce development, land use, and other matters affecting our region.
